Also, ensuring that data structure changes as correctly processed in the catalog and where required relevant stakeholders are consulted.
As data is ever-increasing both in size as well as applicability, the key issue is to catalog all data starting with a significant backlog of existing data and instances of that data. This data exists throughout the complete value chain (both internal and external). In every phase in the chain, data is generated or used. Providing context to the data being used therefore applies throughout the full value chain.
While data is catalogued, gaps will be identified which require investigation filling in these blanks. And, Meta Data provided by the Business can be insufficient or incorrect. As the Meta Data Administrator, you have to curate information provided for accuracy and completeness.

The working relationship is very close as Master- and Reference Data Management depends significantly on Meta Data managed by the Meta Data Management Team and vice versa. Furthermore, as datasets are created and modified, a close relationship with the various dataset development teams (e.g. division data scientists and NCC) is required to fully understand purpose of individual datasets as well as keeping the consistency within the full data eco system (One Data).
Create and maintain dataset Meta Data in the Data Catalog
Datasets require meta data to be registered in the Data Catalog in order to make the set discoverable through standardized services. The registration of Meta Data in the Data Catalog is the key responsibility of the Meta Data Administrator. This is done through discovery by Meta Data Management (using proper tooling like Collibra), or through the service provided to data specialists.
Curate business supplied Meta Data
With Meta Data supplied by the business, the Meta Data Administrator is required to assess quality on correctness and completeness (e.g. sufficient and appropriate tagging of data).
