Ingredient Researcher

Trouw Nutrition USA Companion Animal is looking for an Ingredient Researcher to support TN USA Companion Animal business through ingredient research, pilot plant production, and data analysis to support Formulation, Quality, and Sales. Trouw Nutrition has a focus on ingredient properties and formulation strategy.  This role will work in a laboratory setting analyzing feed ingredients for select nutritional and physical properties to aid Formulations and Quality decisions.  The role will require the technician to operate various laboratory equipment, including a Powder Flow Tester, XRF, environmental chamber.  The technician will need to accurately record, manage, and assist with data collection and analysis.   In addition, this role will require the technician to weigh and mix select feed ingredients in a pilot-scale mixer to aid customer projects.  This technician is expected to further Trouw’s understanding of ingredient properties and nutritional profiles through analytical methods.  

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate feed ingredients for select nutrients and physical properties
• Maintain safe and efficient laboratory environment through instrument maintenance, lab cleanliness, and lab design
• Design and/or verify SOP for laboratory procedures
• Collect and analyze collected data for use by Formulation and Quality
• Support Formulation, Quality, and Sales teams with R&D-related projects
• Develop and expand Trouw Nutrition’s Ingredient Intelligence platform
• Collaboratively work with other departments to support the Companion Animal business.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or greater in a biology-related field
• 2+ years of experience working in an analytical laboratory with strong lab technique and documentation skills
• Data analysis skills
• Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet applications, email programs and LIMS software.
• Ability to write and verbally communicate in an articulate manner

This is a full-time position, located at our corporate office in Highland, Illinois (30 miles east of St. Louis, MO).
