The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer/Manager is to accurately scope, budget, schedule, and coordinate execution of projects with a wide range of scale and complexity. This role includes continuous improvement targets in a manufacturing process environment, though the candidate should be able to apply project management principles and techniques across functions to any area where projects are being defined and executed.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize projects which will deliver improved working conditions, increase production throughput, and/or reduce operations expense
- Lead project focus groups comprised of all relevant stakeholders to develop project requirements & scope
- Organize and manage project budgeting & quoting processes with all externally solicited work items
- Develop & implement project management plans with cost & schedule baselines
- Contribute to development of investment proposals, including technical writing presentation of scope, cost, and budget
- Review contract scope and conditions to mitigate risks
- Oversee contractors during the construction process
- Manage project work teams(s), of both internal and external resources, to plan, schedule, and coordinate project execution
- Implement project monitoring and controls processes to track project progress and maintain adherence to cost and schedule baselines
- Lead decision-making meetings for project changes as they arise
- Forecast & report on project costs & schedules through project execution
- Provides regular status and project progress updates to the stakeholders
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong organizational, planning and coordination skills with the ability to multitask
- Excellent leadership skills, including ability to engage with shop floor and ability to influence cross-functional partners
- Attention to detail balanced with effective execution to timelines
- Focus on executing the project management plan, avoiding scope creep during the project
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly both written and verbally
- Professionalism: interpersonal skills, stakeholder management, self-motivated
- Focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving
HIRING CRITERIA
- Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experiences in engineering, process engineering or manufacturing experience
- Minimum 3 years experiences in project management (capital budgeting experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement tools
- Ability to organize time, prioritize duties and meet deadlines
- Agile with IT tools such MS Office Applications, MS project, & AutoCAD
