Maintenance Lead - Pet

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads a team of maintenance staff including scheduling, training, work order assignment, keeping timecards and other routine records including hot work permits;
• Strong mechanical aptitude required and ability to perform  plant preventative maintenance plan;
• Track and maintain spare parts inventory stock levels including critical parts listing with a focus on spearheading the implementation of maintenance software program;
• Maintain a safe and organized maintenance shop maximizing shop inventory capacity and functionality;
• Coordinate or install, inspect, repair and maintain process and packaging equipment for two feed manufacturing plants and administration office;
• Review diagrams and schematics to troubleshoot industrial machinery and mechanical equipment;
• Inspect and maintain plant boilers;
• Must work within established HACCP procedures;
• Identify, coordinate or complete maintenance requirements, ensuring maintenance staff  maintain a culture of teamwork, resilience and high performance;
• Must demonstrate a strong approach to working in a safe manner, follow strict safety procedures and ensure that co-workers are following safety policies during maintenance procedures;
• Work with production staff, interact with supervisors and work well with outside contractors, service technicians and engineers;
• Be willing to work at various heights.

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

• Licensed Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certification asset but not required;
• Must have a strong mechanical background;
• Familiarity with processing equipment and packaging equipment in a feed manufacturing facility an asset;
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, and have strong organizational skills;
• Able to be on call and possible overtime as required, particularly during the maintenance off shift hours and on weekends;
• Strong knowledge of applicable safety requirements and ability to follow safety policies and procedures;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
