Trouw Nutrition is seeking a Buyer for feed Ingredients and packaging in our Puslinch office in Ontario. In this pivotal role, you'll manage local feed ingredient vendor relationships and oversee packaging across North America. The role involves gathering market intelligence, setting raw material costs, establishing new vendor partnerships, and ensuring compliance with global initiatives.

About The Role: Cultivate vendor relationships and optimize packaging to fuel innovation and achieve success. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, initiate, and coordinate procurement improvement projects to generate cost savings.
  • Report market trends and supplier analysis to identify opportunities.
  • Use benchmarking tools to measure procurement and vendor performance.
    Implement and maintain key priorities/projects like Payment Term Optimization and Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • Establish and manage regional key supplier relationships and purchase agreements.
  • Develop feed ingredient and supplier strategies with global and NA leads.
    Manage local relationships with medicated feed additive vendors and participate in strategic meetings.
  • Develop packaging programs, establish new vendor contacts, and optimize packaging requirements.
  • Provide ingredient pricing for competitive RFQ bid processes.
  • Manage supplier ingredient agreements.
  • Update RMMC monthly and provide insights during EAAC calls.
  • Approve and reconcile invoices for POs.
  • Oversee packaging life cycle, including labels, die changes, and artwork communication.
  • Document strategic supplier meetings and ensure compliance in the SRM system.

Skills and Expertise 

Qualifications: 

  • Negotiation skills are a must-have.
  • Cost-saving and presentation skills.
  • Cross-functional communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of MTE ingredients and quick market response.
  • Experience in packaging for feeds and companion animals is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of buyer experience.
  • Agricultural and pharmaceutical background (nice to have).
  • BA in Supply Chain, Business, or Marketing.
  • Experience in procurement and vendor management is a must
  • ERP/M3/SAP/Power BI is an asset

Expectation from the Role: 

  • Ability to work closely with the supply chain team to maintain balanced ingredient and packaging levels.
  • Ensure timely and accurate daily report management.
  • Contribute to achieving business goals and keep management informed of new opportunities.
  • Must be detail-oriented, possess a proactive mindset, and excel at multitasking
  • Available to work at least two days per week in the Puslinch office
  • The willingness to work with teams all across the North American time zone
