Job Description
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and high-quality operation of production processes at Skretting. This role leads a team on shift to meet daily targets while ensuring adherence to Skretting’s values of trust, inclusivity, curiosity, integrity, and passion. The Production Supervisor is integral to achieving key production objectives in safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Safety
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant work environment across all production shifts. The Production Shift Supervisor ensures adherence to safety regulations and work procedures, immediately addressing non-conformances and escalating unresolved issues to the process and production team as needed. Continual development of process optimization is encouraged to reinforce safety practices and minimize risk.
Quality
The Production Shift Supervisor is tasked with ensuring all quality-related issues in shift are investigated and resolved in a timely manner. This includes continuous monitoring of asset performance KPI to maintain high standards, completing process control check sheets, and verifying the availability of quality raw materials necessary for consistent production output.
Productivity
A key component of this role is leading the production crew to meet throughput and yield targets, while upholding safety and quality standards. The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for troubleshooting production delays, documenting waste and inefficiencies, investigate material variance in shift, communicating unresolved issues in the shift with recommended actions. This position also plays a key role in production improvement plans and leads team meetings to address challenges and set goals for each shift.
Housekeeping
Maintaining cleanliness and organization on the production floor is essential to Skretting’s commitment to quality and safety. The Production Shift Supervisor enforces 5S housekeeping principles within the department, ensuring that all equipment and surrounding areas are organized and clear of unused items. At each shift change, the Supervisor ensures a thorough handover, updating the incoming team on machine status and any relevant information. Additionally, the Supervisor ensures housekeeping checklists are available and completed by the shift crew.
Human Resources
This role involves direct oversight of the operating team on shift, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for identifying team development needs, conducting performance management activities, conducting a regular 1:1 with team member to understand gap and support, coaching team members to optimize performance.
Technical Development
Supporting ongoing technical development is a vital aspect of this position. The Production Shift Supervisor assists in planning, conducting root cause analysis, SPS, driving lean culture in team, setting up equipment for product and process trials, sharing technical knowledge with the process team, and continually building the team’s process knowledge through coaching and assessments. Ensuring best practices are implemented to ensure efficient operation and process reliability.
