As Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, you contribute to our purpose of Feeding the Future by taking charge of a team that is key to our value proposition, by improving its efficiency, and integrating it into our global network of quality professionals.
The QA Manager is the driving force to meet the quality ambition of Nutreco and to assure compliance with feed regulation on a day-to-day basis. The QA manager is part of Global Supply Point organization. You are leading the local QA team. You are responsible for the QA strategy and program and its subsequent local implementation. In this role you report to the GSP Quality manager. You are furthermore part of the local management team of our plant in Tilburg and in this role co-owner of the global Nutreco QA strategy and program that is pivotal for the development and delivery agenda of Nutreco.
About The Role
Responsibilities
Develops, implements, monitors, maintains and improves the quality policies and the quality control, HACCP and Food/Feed Safety Defense and similar programs, in coordination with the manager(s) of production, supply chain and other relevant areas, according to the relevant internal and external global and local standards, in order to ensure an adequate quality assurance system by which the certificates are retained.
Drives continuous improvement processes in the organization, promoting and supporting improvement processes and actions with expert advice, tools and guidance. Conducts risk-based assessments / improvement programs to minimize impact of any process and product deficiencies.
Approves and ensures contracted external production sites and warehouses used by Selko, follow and meet the requirements set by QA related to food/feed safety. This includes ingredient approval and purchase, quality control, production requirements, storage and complaint handling.
Drafts and ensures compliance with the procedures for the implementation of quality control of incoming and manufactured goods and in-process controls, in accordance with the organization guidelines and relevant standards and schemes. Similarly, regarding the procedures for the processing of products that do not meet the specification, ensure that the products meet the required quality at minimal costs.
Responsible for compliancy with EU food/feed safety legislation by ensuring any regulatory change is implemented, in close collaboration with Nutreco Regulatory Affairs and/or local food/feed safety authorities.
Executes internal audits as well as external (i.e. supplier, warehouses) audits. Reports the outcome of audits to the relevant stakeholders and monitors any follow-up actions.
Skills and Expertise
You have a good view on internal and external best practices on Quality Management. You feel comfortable collaborating with other disciplines to achieve the best possible results and bring the resilience to say “no” when it is necessary. You can establish relationships easily and know how to approach stakeholders with new ideas. You have a natural willingness to strengthen your own knowledge and skills within the business. Besides that, you have great coaching skills to support the development of your team.
Minimum bachelor’s degree preferably in chemical or food/feed industry, or similar education;
More than 5 years’ experience in chemical or food/feed industry preferably in quality related positions;
Proven record in successfully managing a team of professionals and working in a B2B environment;
Knowledge of EU food and feed safety regulations.
Knowledge of quality management systems and certification schemes including HACCP and GFSI standards.
Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams in an international environment;
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, know how to convince and persuade, and always maintain a constructive, trusted relation with your stakeholders;
Fluent in Dutch and English written and spoken
