Job Description

Why join us:
At Skretting Aquaculture Innovation (AI), a Nutreco company, we believe in Own it—taking responsibility, showing initiative, and caring about the impact we create. United by our purpose of Feeding the Future, we work with trust and respect to deliver sustainable, highquality nutrition solutions that matter.

We are now looking for a Reseach Technician to join our team at Lerang Research Station on a fixed-term contract. In this role, you will perform daily routines, taking part in animal samplings, maintenance work, and production related activities

What you’ll do:
As a Research Technician at Lerang Research Station, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, execution, and daily operation of aquaculture research trials. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of animal welfare, data quality, and facility operations while supporting researchers in delivering reliable and meaningful experimental results.
You will work closely with researchers, technical staff, coordinators, and other stakeholders to conduct research trials, collect accurate data, and ensure that study protocols are followed. In addition to trial-related activities, you will contribute to the daily operation and maintenance of research systems and equipment, helping to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research trial execution: Assist in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of aquaculture research trials; ensure study protocols are followed and experimental objectives are achieved.

  • Animal husbandry & welfare: Perform daily husbandry activities, monitor fish health and welfare, and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Data collection & reporting: Accurately collect, record, and manage trial data; including environmental and animal data. Support researchers in data validation, reporting, and maintaining data integrity and traceability.

What you bring:

  • Relevant education in aquaculture, biology, animal science, laboratory science, or a related technical field.

  • Preferred education: A vocational certificate in aquaculture, bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or other equivalent experience.

  • Hands-on experience with fish husbandry, aquaculture production systems, or aquatic research facilities.

  • Ability to accurately collect, record, and interpret operational and experimental data.

  • Experience following standard operating procedures (SOPs), biosecurity protocols, and health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Good communication skills in English and solid IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel)

  • Commitment to high standards of animal welfare, data quality, and operational excellence.

Who we’re looking for:
You are a practical, structured, and solution-oriented professional who enjoys working in a hands-on research environment. You take ownership of your work, pay attention to detail, and are motivated by producing high-quality results. You work well independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across different disciplines to support successful research outcomes

What you’ll receive:

Lerang as part of Skretting Aquaculture Innovation (AI) values people over all other resources. We prioritize well-being, development, and the opportunity to grow. You’ll enjoy an incredibly varied workday in a strong professional environment, where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are part of our culture.

As part of a global organization with a clear sustainability mission, you’ll have access to training, competence development, and exciting projects that allow you to grow, — both professionally and personally.

  • Competitive terms, strong pension and insurance schemes

  • A highly innovative and inclusive workplace

  • Opportunities for international collaboration and travel

  • Social activities such as sports, health initiatives, and cultural clubs—because community and well-being matter to us

Our values—Trust, Inclusivity, Integrity, Passion, and Curiosity—are at the heart of everything we do.
