Researcher - shrimp health

Job Description

Why join us:

At Skretting Aquaculture Innovation (AI), a Nutreco company, our mission is ‘feeding the future’. In a world with limited natural resources, our ambition is to meet the rising food needs of a growing world population in a sustainable manner. Working for Skretting means an impactful role in an international, dynamic environment with complex and diverse topics.

We are now looking for an experienced researcher in aquatic animal health with expertise in shrimp health, an innovative mindset and strong collaborative skills. In this role, you will help shape the development of novel solutions to improve shrimp health and performance across our fast-growing aquafeed operations worldwide.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute research studies related to shrimp health.

  • Develop and implement novel technologies to assess shrimp health and support the development of functional nutrition solutions.

  • Provide technical support on shrimp health issues to our operating companies.

  • Management of collaborative projects with internal and external partners.

  • Communication of results and findings to our key stakeholders; assist in implementation of innovations.

What we are looking for:

  • PhD in animal health, immunology, pathology, veterinary science or equivalent field, with experience in shrimp health.

  • Experience from commercial shrimp farming or applied aquaculture research is an advantage.

  • Strong competence in experimental design and statistics, and experience in designing shrimp trials.

  • Network of scientific partners (preferably international).

  • Specific experience in functional feed development is preferable, but not a requirement.

What you bring:
You have an innovative mindset combined with a hands-on and results-oriented approach. You work independently and flexibly, and are able to build trust with people from diverse backgrounds. In addition, you have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

What you’ll receive:
At Skretting AI, people are our most important resource. We prioritize well-being, development, and the opportunity to make an impact. You’ll enjoy a varied workday in a strong professional environment, where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are part of our culture.
As part of a global organization with a clear sustainability mission, you’ll have access to training, competence development, and exciting projects that allow you to grow—both professionally and personally.

We offer:

  • Competitive terms, strong pension and insurance schemes

  • A highly innovative and inclusive workplace

  • Opportunities for international collaboration and travel

  • Social activities such as sports, health initiatives, and cultural clubs—because community and well-being matter to us

Our values—Trust, Inclusivity, Integrity, Passion, and Curiosity—are at the heart of everything we do.

This is a challenging position with strong opportunities for professional growth in an international environment. The role is based in Stavanger, Norway— beautiful south of Norway with easy international connectivity. The working language is English.

Are you interested in contributing to meaningful research and making an impact in a global context? We would like to hear from you.
Please apply online by submitting your CV, diploma, and a brief cover letter outlining your motivation for the role.
