Job Description

Director, Technical Sales & Applications, North America

Location: Canada or United States

Hours: 40hrs/week

Vacancy Type: New

Why Join Us

Get ready to own the commercial and technical transformation of our premix, feed additives, and specialty nutrition business across North America.

As Director, Technical Sales & Applications, North America, you will be at the forefront of strengthening how we bring technical expertise, nutritional solutions, and commercial value to the market. This is a highly visible leadership role with the opportunity to shape strategy, elevate commercial execution, and build a more integrated, market-leading technical sales organization.

As part of the North America Leadership Team, you will work alongside senior business and functional leaders to accelerate growth, strengthen our market position, and turn scientific expertise into measurable customer and business results.

Own your direction. Own your impact. Own the transformation.

What You’ll Do

You will lead the North American technical sales and nutrition strategy for premix, feed additives, and micro-ingredients across ruminant, swine, and poultry applications.

This role requires a leader with the executive presence, commercial credibility, and organizational influence to lead meaningful transformation. You will establish a clear direction for the function, align technical capabilities with commercial priorities, and ensure the organization delivers stronger customer value and business results.

Who we’re looking for

  • Lead the transformation of the North American Technical Sales & Applications organization, establishing the strategy, structure, capabilities, and performance expectations required to accelerate commercial growth.
  • Develop and execute a clear 12-month transformation roadmap focused on strengthening commercial impact, customer value, organizational effectiveness, and market execution.
  • Position the technical organization as a strategic commercial enabler for the premix, feed additives, and specialty nutrition business.
  • Lead the Species Technical Sales, Nutrition, and Validation teams, creating greater alignment, accountability, and consistency across countries, species, and business areas.
  • Establish clear technical selling standards, performance routines, and measures of success that connect technical activity with commercial results.
  • Partner with Commercial and Marketing leaders to strengthen value propositions, go-to-market plans, strategic account development, and portfolio positioning.
  • Translate customer needs, market opportunities, and scientific developments into practical solutions that drive customer outcomes and profitable growth.
  • Provide senior-level technical and commercial leadership for strategic customers, complex opportunities, and high-value partnerships.
  • Lead nutritional programs, formulations, field trials, validation, innovation, and technical governance across North America.
  • Influence portfolio decisions and innovation priorities in partnership with Product Management, R&D, Operations, Quality, and global teams.
  • Build a high-performing, commercially oriented technical organization with the leadership capability and succession depth required to support future growth.
  • Represent the business with credibility and authority at customer meetings, industry forums, scientific events, and senior leadership discussions.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an established technical and commercial executive who has successfully led transformation within animal nutrition, premix, specialty feed ingredients, or a closely related business.

You bring both scientific credibility and strong commercial judgment. You understand how to turn technical expertise into differentiated customer value, stronger market execution, and measurable business performance.

You are comfortable operating at the senior leadership level, influencing across organizational boundaries, and making clear decisions in a complex environment. You can set a compelling direction, bring experienced leaders with you, and create momentum where meaningful change is required.

Most importantly, you have the leadership presence, proven scale, and commercial drive to deliver visible progress within the first 12 months.

You’ll Also Need

  • DVM, PhD, or advanced degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Significant senior leadership experience within animal nutrition, premix, feed additives, specialty ingredients, or a related livestock sector.
  • A proven record of leading commercial or technical-commercial transformation across a large, complex, or multi-country organization.
  • Experience leading senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams across multiple species, markets, or business areas.
  • Demonstrated success connecting technical strategy, customer needs, portfolio priorities, and commercial execution.
  • Strong knowledge of the premix and specialty nutrition market, including the competitive environment, customer expectations, and commercial value drivers.
  • Experience establishing strategy, operating models, performance expectations, and accountability across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable business results through technical sales, customer solutions, innovation, or portfolio development.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders, customers, technical experts, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • The courage and judgment to challenge established practices, make difficult decisions, and lead teams through significant change.
  • Deep expertise in nutritional science, feed formulation, technical program development, and the interpretation of trial and performance data.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to evaluate opportunities based on customer value, differentiation, scalability, and financial impact.
  • Experience working across Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Quality, R&D, and Product Management.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Canadian and United States regulatory and quality requirements, including CFIA, FDA, and AAFCO requirements.
  • Ability to travel across North America and represent the organization with key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 12 months, success will include:

  • A clear North American technical sales and nutrition strategy aligned with commercial and business priorities.
  • A defined transformation roadmap with visible progress against agreed priorities and outcomes.
  • Stronger alignment between Technical Sales, Commercial, Marketing, Product Management, and other business functions.
  • Clear accountability, performance expectations, and operating routines across the technical organization.
  • Improved technical support for strategic accounts, customer opportunities, and commercial teams.
  • Stronger value propositions and more consistent translation of science into commercially relevant customer solutions.
  • A credible assessment of organizational capability, leadership strength, talent gaps, and succession priorities.
  • Increased confidence among senior leaders, customers, and commercial teams in the impact of the Technical Sales & Applications function.
